Official Cause of Death for Zubeen Garg Revealed, Investigation Continues

GUWAHATI: Following the tragic and unexpected death of Assamese music icon Zubeen Garg, the Assam government has confirmed the initial official cause of death listed on his death certificate. According to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the document, received from the Singapore High Commission, cites “drowning” as the cause of death.

While the death certificate provides this detail, CM Sarma emphasized that it is not the full post-mortem report. The Assam government is actively pursuing the comprehensive report from Singaporean authorities to understand the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

Thorough Investigation Promised

“The Singapore High Commission sent the death certificate of Zubeen Garg, and they mentioned the cause of death is drowning,” Chief Minister Sarma stated. “But this is not a post-mortem report. The post-mortem report is different, and the death certificate is different.”

To ensure a complete investigation, the Chief Secretary of Assam is in direct communication with the Singaporean Ambassador to expedite the process of obtaining the detailed post-mortem findings. Once received, all documents will be handed over to the CID for a thorough examination.
