The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB) has officially announced the written examination dates for the UP Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Recruitment 2025. With 4,543 vacancies up for grabs, this update marks an important milestone for thousands of aspirants preparing to join the state police force.

The written examination will take place over two days in March 2026. This test is the first stage of the multi-step recruitment process.

  • Sub Inspector (Civil Police): 4,242 posts
  • SI Platoon Commander (PAC): 135 posts

  • Women Sub-Inspector (Women Battalion): 106 posts

Complete Selection Process Explained

The selection for UP Police SI involves four major stages. Each stage filters candidates based on knowledge, fitness, and overall suitability for the force.

1. Written Examination (Online)

  • Objective-type test
  • 160 questions | 400 marks | 2 hours duration
  • No negative marking
  • Sections include:
    • General Hindi
    • Law, Constitution & General Knowledge
    • Numerical & Mental Ability
    • Mental Aptitude & Reasoning

2. Document Verification & Physical Standard Test (PST)

After clearing the written exam, candidates undergo:

  • Verification of documents
  • Measurement of height, chest (for males), and weight (for females)

3. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

Candidates who meet PST standards must complete a running task:

  • Males: 4.8 km in 28 minutes
  • Females: 2.4 km in 16 minutes

4. Medical Examination & Final Merit

A medical test confirms fitness.
The final merit list is created based on written exam marks only, but only for candidates who clear all other stages.
