New Delhi, September 30, 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit the historic Kali Mandir in Chittaranjan Park (CR Park) today to participate in Durga Puja celebrations. The visit comes on the auspicious day of Ashtami, one of the most significant days of Navratri, and is expected to draw thousands of devotees and visitors.

Security Preparations Ahead of PM Modi’s CR Park Kali Mandir Visit

A day before the Prime Minister’s arrival, the Special Protection Group (SPG) carried out a thorough security check in the temple complex and nearby areas. Local authorities have been instructed to ensure strict safety measures and smooth crowd management.

Residents were asked to remove vehicles parked on the main approach roads. In addition, local vendors and hawkers in certain areas were temporarily relocated to avoid congestion.

The Delhi Police has also issued a traffic advisory for commuters in South Delhi. Authorities have urged citizens to avoid the CR Park stretch during peak hours to prevent delays.

Delhi Traffic Restrictions

According to the advisory, heavy traffic congestion is likely on:

  • Outer Ring Road (Panchsheel to Greater Kailash stretch)
  • Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg
  • JB Tito Marg
  • Inder Mohan Bhardwaj Marg
  • CR Park Main Road

Vehicular movement will also be restricted on Gurudwara Road, Bipin Chandra Pal Marg, and several internal roads of CR Park and Greater Kailash-II. Diversions have been planned at key flyovers, including Panchsheel, IIT, and Nehru Place.

Light and heavy goods vehicles (LGVs and HGVs) will be redirected through alternative routes. Commuters have been advised to use MG Road, Aurobindo Marg, Mathura Road, Lala Lajpat Rai Road, and Mehrauli-Badarpur Road.

Cultural and Spiritual Significance

The Prime Minister’s participation in the CR Park festivities is seen as a gesture of cultural solidarity. The Kali Mandir complex, established in the 1970s, has long been the spiritual heart of the Bengali community in Delhi. It is particularly famous during Durga Puja when large pandals, devotional music, and cultural performances transform the area into a vibrant hub.

Every year, the CR Park Durga Puja attracts devotees not just from Delhi-NCR but also from neighboring states. The celebration combines deep spirituality with rich cultural heritage, making it one of the capital’s most iconic religious events.

By attending the celebrations, PM Modi is expected to pay homage to Maa Durga and extend greetings to citizens during the Navratri festival. His presence also highlights the government’s recognition of the cultural and spiritual traditions associated with Durga Puja.

Why This Visit Matters

The PM Modi CR Park Kali Mandir visit is significant for several reasons:

  • It underscores the cultural importance of Durga Puja in the national capital.
  • It brings national attention to CR Park, often referred to as the “mini-Kolkata of Delhi.”
  • It sends a message of unity and respect for diverse Indian traditions.
