‘Pakistan Attacked Afghanistan’: Donald Trump Claims He Can Easily Broker Peace Between The Two Nations

Washington:
Former US President Donald Trump has once again made headlines by claiming he could easily broker peace between Pakistan and Afghanistan, following reports of cross-border tensions between the two nations. Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump said resolving the Pakistan-Afghanistan issue would be his “ninth solved war.”

“Although I do understand that Pakistan attacked, or there is an attack going on with Afghanistan. That’s an easy one for me to solve if I have to solve it. In the meantime, I have to run the USA, but I love solving wars,” Trump remarked, reigniting debates over his foreign policy claims.

Trump’s ‘Nine Wars’ Claim

The former president boldly asserted that during his tenure, he “solved eight wars,” adding that the Pakistan-Afghanistan conflict would be his ninth. Trump has often claimed credit for peace negotiations in various global conflicts, though many of his assertions have been disputed or unverified.

“I solved eight wars. Go to Rwanda and the Congo, and talk about India and Pakistan. Look at all the wars that we solved,” Trump said. “Every time I solved one, they said, ‘If you solve the next one, you’re going to get the Nobel Prize.’ I didn’t get the Nobel Prize. Somebody else got it—a very nice woman—but I don’t care about all that. I just care about saving lives. But this (Pakistan-Afghanistan conflict) will be number nine.”

India-Pakistan Peace Claim Rejected by New Delhi

Trump also repeated his previous claim that he had brokered peace between India and Pakistan, both nuclear-armed neighbors with a history of military standoffs. However, Indian officials have repeatedly denied these claims, emphasizing that peace efforts between the two nations were the result of direct talks between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both countries—without any US mediation.

India has maintained a clear position that all matters related to Pakistan are bilateral and do not involve third-party intervention. New Delhi had earlier dismissed Trump’s claims of having played a role in easing tensions between the two nations following the 2021 ceasefire agreement.

Trump’s Frustration Over Nobel Prize Snub

In his latest remarks, Trump once again expressed frustration about not receiving a Nobel Peace Prize, suggesting that despite his efforts to “save millions of lives,” he had been overlooked for the honor.

“To the best of my knowledge, we’ve never had a president who solved one war. Not one war,” Trump said. “Bush started a war… But I saved tens of millions of lives.”

While Trump did facilitate some peace agreements—most notably the Abraham Accords, which normalized relations between Israel and several Arab nations—his broader claims about “solving” multiple wars have been met with skepticism by political analysts and diplomats alike.

Background: Pakistan-Afghanistan Tensions

The statement comes amid heightened tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan, with reports of border skirmishes and mutual accusations of supporting militant groups. Relations between the two nations have worsened since the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan in 2021, with Islamabad accusing Kabul of harboring Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants responsible for attacks inside Pakistan.

Trump’s latest remarks add a new twist to the ongoing regional friction, though his comments were not accompanied by any official proposal or diplomatic engagement plan.

As Trump continues his campaign for a potential return to the White House, his repeated emphasis on global peace deals could be seen as part of his broader foreign policy narrative—positioning himself as a problem-solver on the international stage.
